Scotland-based advisory

Business consulting that moves the numbers, not just the slides

We work with owner-managed companies and mid-market teams across Scotland. The focus is always on measurable change: margin improvement, faster cash cycles, clearer strategy. No jargon-heavy decks that gather dust.

Why companies call us

The gap between where you are and where the plan says you should be

Most businesses we meet have a decent product and a capable team. What they lack is the operating rhythm, financial clarity or strategic framework to convert potential into consistent results. Here is what that looks like in practice, and what changes when we get involved.

Common friction points

  • Revenue grows but profit stays flat because cost structures have not been re-examined since year one.
  • The leadership team spends more time firefighting than planning, so quarterly targets drift.
  • Cash conversion takes 60+ days and nobody has mapped the bottleneck.
  • Expansion decisions rely on gut feel rather than scenario modelling.

What shifts after working with us

  • A costed, time-bound plan replaces the vague "grow 20 %" aspiration.
  • Monthly dashboards track the five or six numbers that actually predict performance.
  • Working capital frees up because payment terms, inventory and invoicing get redesigned together.
  • The founder or MD spends at least half their week on strategic work, not operational noise.

What we do

Six consulting disciplines, one integrated team

Each engagement draws on whichever disciplines the situation demands. We do not sell pre-packaged programmes; we scope every project around your specific constraint.

Financial diagnostics

We pull apart your P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statement to find where money leaks out. Typical output: a prioritised list of ten to fifteen changes ranked by impact and ease.

Growth strategy

Market sizing, competitor mapping, pricing architecture and channel selection. We build the model together so your team owns it after we leave.

Operations review

Process mapping, capacity analysis and supply chain assessment. We have helped manufacturers cut lead times by 40 % and service firms reduce rework by a third.

Leadership alignment

When founders disagree on direction, progress stalls. We facilitate structured strategy sessions, define roles with clarity, and build decision-making protocols the team actually follows.

Risk and compliance

Regulatory readiness assessments for Scottish and UK frameworks. We prepare documentation, train staff and run mock audits so the real one is straightforward.

Interim management

Need a finance director or operations lead for three to nine months? We place experienced consultants inside your business to run the function while you recruit permanently.

How it works

Four stages from first conversation to measurable result

01

Discovery call

A 30-minute video call where we listen, ask questions and decide together whether there is a fit. No charge, no obligation.

02

Diagnostic sprint

Two to three weeks of data gathering, interviews and analysis. We deliver a written report with findings, root causes and a recommended action plan.

03

Implementation support

We work alongside your people to execute the plan. Weekly check-ins, shared task boards and fortnightly progress reports keep everyone accountable.

04

Review and handover

At project end we run a formal review: what changed, what the numbers say, what to watch next. You keep every template, model and dashboard we built.

About the practice

Built by operators, not academics

The founding team spent a combined 35 years inside Scottish businesses before launching Elevate Biz Consulting. Roles ranged from CFO of a £40m food manufacturer to operations director at a tech scale-up. That background means we understand the pressure of payroll Friday and the politics of a boardroom disagreement.

We keep the team small on purpose. Every client works directly with a senior consultant who has run a function, not an analyst fresh from university. When specialist skills are needed, such as tax structuring or IT architecture, we bring in vetted associates rather than maintaining expensive bench capacity.

Common questions

Before you pick up the phone

What size of company do you typically work with?

Most clients have annual revenue between £1m and £30m. We also take on pre-revenue start-ups when the founding team has domain expertise and needs help building the commercial model.

How are fees structured?

We quote a fixed fee per project phase after the discovery call. There are no day-rate surprises. For interim placements we agree a monthly retainer. All fees are confirmed in writing before any work begins.

Do you work with companies outside Scotland?

Yes. About a quarter of our engagements are with businesses elsewhere in the UK. We travel for on-site work and run the rest by video. International projects are considered case by case.

How long does a typical engagement last?

The diagnostic sprint takes two to three weeks. Implementation support runs anywhere from six weeks to six months depending on scope. We agree milestones upfront so neither side is locked into an open-ended arrangement.

Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

Always. We send our standard mutual NDA before the discovery call if you prefer, or we are happy to sign yours.
